Czech Railway - The Display Wagon at Na Knížecí

Za Ženskými domovy 3123, Praha 5
Aleš Procházka

The authentic setting of this 35-year old motorized wagon, which is increasingly disappearing from our tracks, replaced by modern carts, is certainly an attractive place for listening to literature. The placement of the wagon at the last still-functioning station in Prague, where trains regularly arrive, is a wonderful example of the symbiosis of mass transportation and art. The setting around the station is unique in that it is changing almost before our eyes, just like the entire neighborhood in the formerly industrial heart of Smichov.

John Ajvide Lindqvist - Hanteringen av odöda

Translation: Jana Holá, Argo 2012

While the novel plays with the classic horror theme of zombies, in the author’s version the animated corpses are no scary, carnivorous monsters; rather they are pained creatures, who want, like the rest of us, only one thing: to return home. The result is a chilling horror with all of the trappings and simultaneously a love story that defies death itself.
